While He's Away.

I created a good place on his bathroom wall to hang his favorite hats while he is away on the road.

His sunglasses are kept safely where he left them.

He leaves Little treasures all around the house to remind me I'm coming back.

And His shoes await him by his bedside until he returns.

A part of you has grown in me.
And so you see, it's you and me
                                                          Together forever and never apart,
Maybe in distance, but never in heart.

Walk The Trail

See Through

See In

Footsteps fall softly
Following the path
 Loud, Muddy, Squishy
Hey I'm not a poet
I'm a Dreamer.

When Memory Becomes Reality

It was a messy morning for sure, I knew the direction I was headed; however, I did not know the location I was trying to find...

It didn't occur to me that I probably should have filled up my gas tank before I set out on this little excursion of mine. My gas meter read less than a quarter of a tank and I needed to come up with a plan. I checked my phone maps which told me to go "this way" to the nearest gas station which turned out to be propane heating   clearly not going to help me out one bit, so I kept on driving. I said a little prayer to myself asking God for a miracle and He delivered, there was a man out in his driveway shoveling snow so I stopped my car in the middle of the road (I was in a bit of a hurry) and asked him where the nearest gas station was, he probably thought I was nuts, driving out in the middle of nowhere without any gas; what was I thinking? Boonies Country Store was about 10 minutes down the road so I drove on...
Boonie was a nice man, I don't know if that was his real name but he was certainly pleasant enough. The gas pumps were old fashion, not like the crazy card swiping, hog eating, dollar fee for each transaction modern day pumps we use everyday, no I liked these pumps and I was proud that I knew how to use them. Its funny though, I was actually thinking to myself, what if these guys don't take debit card I only have $5 bucks on me? Come on now Heather this is the 21st century, just because Boonie has old fashion gas pumps doesn't mean he doesn't take a debit card so I quickly paid and before I set out I figured it would probably be a good idea to use the ladies room, not knowing when the next Country Store would be available.
Ladies room, ha, "Sorry mam but we do not have a restroom; however there is a porta potty to the side of the store if you want, sorry," with a smile. What he meant by the side of the store was Outside of the store in the freezing cold, so I used it, there I said it, I'm tough I can use a porta potty outside in the freezing cold, in the middle of a snowstorm. And the journey still doesn't come to an end I still hadn't reached my destination...

Just when I was about to give up and head home I realized that I was essentially in the area I was looking for when I saw Maplewood Rd. on the map. It never occurred to me that the memory from my past which consisted of two rows of maple trees on both sides of the road would be called Maplewood. It was apparently naive of me to think so. I remember thinking to myself I want to take a photo of those trees and I've carried that thought with me for nearly 10 years, well that was all about to change...

A truly insightful journey to say the least and I enjoyed every minute.
